Abstract
The Handbook of Patients' Rights, written by Professor Dr. Aline Albuquerque, presents an unprecedented topic dealing with patients' rights as a new branch of law. It provides a historical analysis of patients' rights and criticizes the lack of specific Brazilian legislation on the subject, as well as litigation in the care context. In addition, the rights mentioned above are listed and topics such as autonomy, agency, decision-making, informed consent, living wills, patient safety, restorative justice, the ombudsman, and restrictive measures are addressed. All topics are covered in depth and in a didactic manner, which confirms the excellence of the work. The book is essential reading for students and professionals in the fields of health and law, as well as for anyone interested in the protection of patients' rights.
