Abstract
Objective: This article addresses the subject-matter of microcephaly caused by Zika Virus and the actions taken by the legislative and juridical branch. Methodology: For this study The Health Observatory and its different categories were explored, it was used to search the database of the Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies Results: 27 bills were found and an interim measure that was transformed into law 13301 of 2016. Within this scenario, the categories that have gained prominence are related to indemnities and benefits, indemnities and benefits, medicines and health products, screening and treatment exams, health surveillance, tax exemption, abortion and research. Noteworthy to mention the actions that were taken to fight the urgency in public health that are related to microcephaly by Zika, such as the elaboration of ordinances, guides, protocols, actions to combat the mosquito, among others. Conclusion: The Legislature through the presentation of bills has been especially concerned with the most frequent outbreaks of Zika Virus and related diseases. There is a cooperative job between Legislature and Executive.
