Abstract
Introduction: the safety of surgical patient is an issue addressed for decades that still deserves discussion and incisive strategies. Objective: to present the safety context of the surgical patient and propose a joint approach with human rights. Methodology: a research was conducted on the online databases of the Virtual Health Library, Scielo, MedLine, Lilacs, Pubmed, Ministry of Health and the Proqualis portal, with the descriptors: patient safety, surgical safety, safe surgery, human rights of patients and patient-centered care. Conclusion: patient's human rights principles, patient-centered care, and patient’s responsibility are tools that can positively contribute to improve patient’s safety.References
