Article Format

Articles must follow guidelines described below.

1. Formatting

  • Text in Arial font, size 12; line spacing with 1.5 cm.
  • Margin: top and bottom with 2 cm; right and left with 2 cm.
  • Do not indicate authorship in the article to preserve anonymity in peer review. Articles that violate anonymity will be rejected.
  • The text must include all visual elements such as tables, boxes, diagrams, and images, as well as their titles and sources. These elements must also be submitted separately.

2. Title

  • The title must be concise and informative, without acronyms, with a maximum of 150 characters.
  • It must be written in three languages: Portuguese, English and Spanish.
  • Capitalize only the first letter of the initial word and the first names.
  • Do not end the title (do not insert a period).

3. Abstract

  • Maximum of 250 words.
  • Structured abstract, with objective, methods, results and conclusion.
  • It must not contain bibliographic citations or acronyms and should not include numbering and bulleting.
  • It must be written in three languages: Portuguese, English and Spanish (Resumo, Abstract, Resumen).

4. Keywords

  • A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 words that must be part of the Virtual Health Library - Descriptors in the Health Sciences (DeCS) database, available at http://decs.bvs.br/ .
  • Do not use acronyms as keywords.
  • Separate words with semicolons.
  • It must be written in three languages (Palavras-chave, Keywords, Palabras clave).

5. Tables, Boxes, Diagrams and Figures

  • They must be included in the text and also submitted separately, and each element must be contained in a separate file.
  • Numbering must be consecutive for each type of element (e.g., Table 1, Table 2, Table 1, Table 2, etc).
  • Tables, boxes, and diagrams should not be included as an image in the text.
  • All tables, boxes, diagrams and figures must be titled and sourced. 

6. Acknowledgements

Possible mentions include institutions that facilitated the conduct of the research in some way and/or individuals who contributed to the study but do not meet the criteria to be coauthors.

7. Funding

Authors must indicate whether the research was funded by public and/or private funds.

8. Citations

  • Direct and indirect quotations should be made in accordance with Vancouver standards, using superscript numbers in brackets, according to the order of occurrence. If there is more than one citation of the same reference, repeat the reference numbering.

    Example: According to public health data extracted from the SUS database(2)

  • For direct quotations with more than three lines, observe the left indent of 4 cm, a single line, and font size 10.

9. References

  • Use Vancouver style for references.
  • Include only what is cited in the text.
  • Do not include references in footnotes. If cited in a footnote, the reference must be numbered and included at the end of the article.
