Abstract
Objective: This text aims to identify the possibilities of access to health, in a universal and egalitarian way, through the strengthening of public policies for prevention and health promotion, as more effective ways of guaranteeing this fundamental right. Methodology: It was verified through a doctrinaire study that follows the deductive method. Results: The speeches about the right to health has been reiterated and commonplace. Conclusion: It is recommended to analyze the investment in programs that reduce or prevent the emergence of diseases, in the detriment of curative procedures, advocates for preventive and promotional forms, which would allow greater assurance of welfare for citizens.
