Regional asymmetries reveal situations of disadvantage and vulnerability among Brazilian regions, reflected in the social, economic, educational, and particularly, health spheres. The Northern region of Brazil has shown growing scientific production in the field of Health Law, driven by the committed work of professors and researchers, yet it still faces challenges in giving visibility to this knowledge within the national academic landscape.

This special call aims to disseminate and value the academic and scientific production developed by researchers and professors from institutions located in the Northern region, thus expanding knowledge circulation and encouraging plural dialogues focused on ensuring the right to health — an essential element for inclusive and effective public policies.

THEMATIC AXES

1. Right to Health, Inequalities, and Social Determinants:

Investigate the conditions of the right to health and well-being as influenced by social, economic, cultural, and ethnic/racial determinants (SDH), related to factors such as income, education, and geographical location, among others.

2. Human Right to Health, Vulnerable Groups, and Equity:

Reflect on the right of all individuals to enjoy physical and mental health, highlighting the main barriers faced by vulnerable populations and identifying measures necessary to ensure high-quality, non-discriminatory healthcare.

3. Democratic Governance and Health: Participation and Social Control:

Analyze mechanisms that promote good practices in democratic governance, their advances and setbacks in public health policies, and the roles of the State and society in implementing participatory health management.

4. Technological Innovations in Health and Legal Implications:

Examine technological advances that ensure the right to health — such as telemedicine and artificial intelligence — and investigate the legal implications of these technologies in Brazil’s legal framework, including the General Data Protection Law and the Digital Statute for Children and Adolescents.

5. Human Resources in Health – Challenges and Opportunities:

Analyze the progress and setbacks of human resources policies within the Unified Health System (SUS). Assess institutional capacities in health workforce planning and regulation, and reflect on the institutional responsibilities of managers and professional councils.

Target Audience:
PhD and Master’s degree holders may submit articles individually or in co-authorship. Undergraduate and graduate students may submit articles only in co-authorship with a PhD or Master’s degree holder (up to four authors).

Only unpublished and original articles not under review elsewhere will be accepted. Submissions may be written in Portuguese, Spanish, or English and will undergo double-blind peer review by members of the Editorial Board and ad hoc reviewers.
